February 17, 2015; MARK FRIEDEL,

A Claremore man was transported by Medi-Flight Thursday night following a personal-injury wreck in Marshall County. The accident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 177, less than a mile south of McLaughlin Road in Madill.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Madill police officer, driving a 2011 Ford pickup truck, attempted to stop 21-year-old Matthew Young, of Ardmore, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Maxima northbound on Highway 177. Young and his passenger, 22-year-old Jacob Hawley, of Claremore, stopped on the shoulder of the road before Hawley exited the truck and walked over to a residential yard.

According to the OHP report, Young put the car in reverse and rammed the patrol officer’s truck, then began to drive away. A second patrol unit attempted to perform a tactical vehicle intervention, but was unsuccessful. Young drove through a residential yard and struck Hawley, the report stated.

Hawley was transported to Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas where he was admitted in critical condition, according to the report.

No other injuries were reported.
